Our Three main concerns are

Widows: Rachel’s Development Programme (RACSDEP) is dedicated to empowering widows in Kenya to achieve their goals and overcome the challenges they face. One of the innovative ways we support widows is through the establishment of roadside kiosks and the implementation of table banking initiatives, which play a crucial role in helping them meet their daily needs and build sustainable livelihoods.

For many widows, the loss of their spouse often translates into financial instability and increased vulnerability. Without a steady source of income, they struggle to provide for themselves and their families, facing barriers to accessing employment and financial services. At RACSDEP, we recognize the importance of addressing these challenges head-on and providing widows with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

Roadside kiosks serve as a practical solution to this problem by creating opportunities for widows to generate income and become self-reliant. These kiosks are strategically located in busy areas, allowing widows to capitalize on foot traffic and attract customers. Through our entrepreneurship development programs, we equip widows with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage their kiosks effectively, including inventory management, customer service, and financial literacy.

In addition to roadside kiosks, RACSDEP implements table banking initiatives, which enable widows to access small loans and savings opportunities within their communities. Table banking operates on the principle of collective financial empowerment, where members pool their resources together to create a revolving fund. Widows contribute a portion of their earnings to the fund, which is then used to provide loans to members in need. This approach not only fosters a sense of solidarity and mutual support among widows but also gives them the financial flexibility to invest in income-generating activities, education, and healthcare.

By combining roadside kiosks with table banking, RACSDEP creates a comprehensive support system that addresses both the immediate and long-term needs of widows. Not only do these initiatives provide widows with a source of income to meet their daily needs, but they also promote financial independence, resilience, and empowerment. Through our holistic approach, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability, empowering widows to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

At RACSDEP, we are committed to supporting widows every step of the way on their journey towards economic empowerment and self-sufficiency. Through our innovative programs and unwavering dedication, we strive to create lasting change and transform the lives of widows across Kenya.

Rachel’s Development Programme (RACSDEP) serves as a beacon of hope for dropout youths, offering a lifeline for those who have faced barriers to education and employment. Through innovative initiatives and unwavering support, RACSDEP empowers these individuals to reclaim their futures and pursue sustainable livelihoods.

For many dropout youths, the road to economic independence and self-sufficiency can seem daunting. Limited access to resources and opportunities often exacerbate their challenges, leaving them feeling disheartened and directionless. However, RACSDEP believes in the inherent potential of every individual and works tirelessly to unlock opportunities for them.

One of the transformative programs offered by RACSDEP is the provision of financial assistance to establish small businesses, such as hair salons, barber shops, second-hand clothing stalls, and more. By leveraging the power of entrepreneurship, RACSDEP enables dropout youths to generate income and support themselves and their families.

Hair salons and barber shops, in particular, offer a promising avenue for economic empowerment. With the right skills and resources, youths can turn their passion for hairdressing and grooming into thriving businesses. RACSDEP provides comprehensive training, mentorship, and access to microloans to help them kick start their ventures.

Similarly, second-hand clothing hawking presents a lucrative opportunity for dropout youths to enter the informal economy. Through RACSDEP’s support, they receive guidance on market research, business management, and financial planning, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in this competitive sector.

Beyond financial assistance, RACSDEP fosters a supportive ecosystem where dropout youths can access ongoing mentorship, networking opportunities, and skills development programs. By nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit and instilling confidence, RACSDEP empowers them to overcome challenges and thrive as business owners.

The impact of RACSDEP’s interventions extends far beyond economic outcomes. By enabling dropout youths to establish sustainable livelihoods, RACSDEP restores their sense of dignity, purpose, and hope for the future. These individuals not only become financially independent but also serve as role models and catalysts for positive change in their communities.

In essence, RACSDEP’s initiatives offer dropout youths a second chance at success, demonstrating that with determination, resilience, and support, they can overcome adversity and build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Through empowerment and opportunity, RACSDEP brings back hope to those who need it most, transforming lives and communities one entrepreneur at a time.

Rachel’s Development Programme (RACSDEP) stands as a beacon of hope for adolescent girls facing the profound challenges of early pregnancy and the devastating impacts of HIV/AIDS. In the face of adversity, RACSDEP extends a helping hand, offering comprehensive support and empowering these young women to build brighter futures for themselves and their children.

The plight of adolescent girls who find themselves pregnant at tender ages is a pressing concern in many communities. Often ostracized and abandoned, these girls face immense social stigma and economic hardship. RACSDEP recognizes the urgent need to intervene and provide pathways to empowerment for these vulnerable individuals.

One of the transformative programs offered by RACSDEP is skills training in traditional crafts such as basket weaving and soap making. Through hands-on workshops and mentorship, adolescent girls learn valuable skills that not only enable them to earn a sustainable income but also instill a sense of pride and self-worth.

Basket weaving, in particular, holds great cultural significance in many communities and offers a viable source of income for those with the necessary skills. Under the guidance of experienced artisans, girls learn the art of weaving intricately designed baskets using locally sourced materials. These beautifully crafted baskets are then marketed and sold, providing a steady source of income for the girls and their families.

Similarly, training in soap making equips adolescent girls with the knowledge and skills to produce high-quality soap products for sale. From sourcing raw materials to mastering the art of soap formulation and packaging, girls gain valuable entrepreneurial skills that enable them to establish small-scale soap production businesses.

In addition to economic empowerment, RACSDEP provides essential support services for adolescent girls infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Through counseling, peer support groups, and access to healthcare services, RACSDEP ensures that these girls receive the comprehensive care they need to manage their health and well-being. Furthermore, RACSDEP places a strong emphasis on education and reproductive health awareness, empowering adolescent girls to make informed choices about their bodies
